My Photo Albums are a Hot Mess

I was recently looking through my web photo albums and came to the realization that these are not the photo albums I remember when I was growing up. It seems like not too long ago when you would visit family or friends, they would have a photo album on the coffee table full of snapshots of those fun times when you were growing up. I took at quick look at my online photo galleries and realized that my albums are a hot mess. Here are some of the things that I have noticed changed in just recent years when it comes to photography.

It seems like yesterday when you would drive to the grandparents’ house with the family and spend holidays together. My favorite part as I grew older was looking through the photo albums at all the pictures of us when we were kids. It didn't matter if we were swimming in the local lake, at the amusement park, or playing with the animals at the local zoo, those pictures instantly transported me back to a time I can recall by simply glancing at those images.

Flash forward to my web photo albums. First of all when people come to my house no one cares about looking through my photo galleries. After looking at a few of those pictures I can understand why. It seems like every picture is of someone with their tongue hanging out, mouth wide open, or a selfie of me standing so close to something I have no idea where the heck the picture was taken. The photo album is nothing more than closeups of my mouth open in different places. I have no idea where the pictures are taken because most of the time I never label then. The ones that I can distinguish as to where they were taken are usually of me making a stupid face at the camera. When I look at these now I wonder what was I thinking.

Those old photo albums transport you back to a place and time where memories were actually cherished. You can sit on the couch with an old photo album and slowly turn the pages and almost feel like you were back at that location again. You can smell the food, feel the warm breezes, and hear all the sounds, simply from just looking at those old pictures. My web pictures don't bring back any memories like that. They have me cringing in horror as I wonder when did the duck face because the pose of choice in this century. I look at the next photograph with eyes half closed in anticipation of the next stupid face me of my friends made.

The sad thing about my web photo albums is that I would never want to share the majority of these pictures with my family. I don't think I can find many that actually have my family in then. They are all the same close up pictures of me and my fiends making the same faces, just in different location. At least i think they are different locations, its hard to tell with the camera lens halfway down my throat. Getting kind of sad looking through my photo galleries because they don't take me back to a place I love going back to like those old photo albums magically do. I miss those group pictures our parents took of me and my friends. Now it seems I take all the pictures, and because I take 1,000 a day, you really lose that feeling as you scan through them quickly.

Maybe its time to slow down and take some pictures that will have meaning a few years from now, we can still have web photo albums that are full of photos but now they will tell a complete story instead of just being a selfie.

Inspire Others And Yourself Via Online Photo Galleries

Taking photos can be a great way to pass the time. Framing a moment through the lens of a camera forms a memory that will now last for a lifetime. Capturing significant and insignificant moments are what the art of photography is all about. What might look like just a normal scene to someone can be an entire story to someone with an eye for the camera. This is one reason why so many people enjoy taking pictures in their spare time, because telling a visual story can be very rewarding to those behind and in front of the lens.

If you are an avid photographer in your free time you might be looking for some inspiration for your next photo project. The great news is now you can just go online to find plenty of great ideas. Many people head to online photo galleries to look at other shots and get inspiration for their own shots. Sometimes looking at how someone else framed a photo can offer the boost that you need to think up your own setting. This is actually a very popular way for people to get ideas for holiday pictures or posed photos like newborn photos, reunion pictures, etc.

Once you find a pose or a theme that you like all you need to do is come up with a fun twist that will suit the subjects that you are photographing. Even if you are just looking for a new subject Online photo galleries can still help you get some ideas. After all, half of the fun of photography is learning to see everyday items and things in a new way. Therefore, taking a look at someone else’s interpretation of something can start to force you to look at something in a new way and then you can work on capturing that idea on film.

Of course, once you are done with a roll of film or in this digital age a nice round of photos, you can always create your own web photo album so that others can take inspiration from you. It is now easier than ever to share photos online so why not have some fun and show off the photos that you take. You can choose to alter the settings so that you share the photos with the public or maybe just with a few trusted friends and family members. It is up to you how much you want to share your gift with others.

You can also create a web photo album for every piece of work that you have done for others so that they can view the pictures and download them at will. This makes it easy to share and disseminate photos so that you can spread your work. Photography is truly a piece of art so turn it into a piece of art that can be appreciated by others. You never know when someone might use your album as inspiration for their next piece of work allowing the piece to come full circle.

Sharing Your Favorite Photos Has Gotten Easier

Photo sharing is quite possibly one of the most joyous pastimes in life! If you have taken the into the world of digital photography, than you can easily make them available for all to enjoy. If you have a printer, you can always print your photos yourself at home or you can have prints made up for you at a photo lab. Photos can be viewed on a computer and you can include them as a surprise inside of an e-mail. You can even create photo galleries for your website or blog these days.

Aside from making scrapbooks and collages in which to share your photos, you might also want to get creative with them. Many photo sharing websites such as Instagram will help you accomplish a variety of artistic techniques to change your photos to perk them up somewhat with filters.

Besides Instagram there is an array of websites that will let one transform an adored photo into one that is a bit more interesting. If you are looking to give your photo a pop-artsy look, the internet is chock full of websites with guidance on how to do this. Perhaps you are looking to add color to your treasured family photos, this is also possible. Photo enlargements can also be done so you can place the finished product onto canvas and even hang it on a wall to enjoy.

While your photos are adorable and touch your heart, they are also made to be fun. You can create a silly great gift by taking a valued photo and you can make a joke from it as you add text captions under it (like a cartoon). There are several services on-line that can help you accomplish this. If a cartoon theme is not your style, than you can use your photos to create a magazine cover or create a poster or greeting card. If you want to get quite eccentric with a photo you can even find a website that will humorously distort it for you. Many of these sites can accomplish this without you having to download a thing. Inserting someone’s face on the body of another or into a famous picture can be a photo that is sure to bring chuckles when it is shared.

Making your photos a little diverse can be extremely simple and it will give you the freedom to allow your creative juices to flow! You can also find sites to help you change the background color of a photo, resize them or add some interesting borders to them.

Online photo galleries are also popular places to share your photos with others, once you have them looking the way you want.  Recently in fact online photo galleries have been introduced and will let photos be created and placed in great looking galleries to use as your personal photo album and of course you can share them with your friends and family on Facebook, pin them to Pinterest, tweet out a link or even share them via email for those family members and friends who do not have social media accounts yet.

There are many ways to share and create online galleries today. Some even allow you not only to upload your own photographs but also allow you to curate from the albums of your friends, family and followers. Can you imagine some even allow you to curate from your favorite social media site Instagram, as well you Facebook friends and pages. That can definitely be useful for some website owners and bloggers. Can you imagine curating and sharing all your favorite photographs? It can definitely be done now on several online photo galleries.

Memories-The Fabric of Our Lives

We all have memories that we treasure, all the moments of life are spliced together.
That is what we keep, what we share in those photo albums we hold so dear.
Even the memory photo albums of our past hold those magical childhood memories.

For example moment shared when sitting with mother or grandmother, watching how she lovingly pasted each picture in place. Suddenly a comment or a tale flowed from the tip of her tongue caressing each child like the soft feel of a warm fleece blanket. These are the childhood memories we keep and cherish for all time, long past the day when she remains.

But are they forgotten? Now that we have digital images, cameras, computers and tablets, we snap more photos than we ever did before. We hurry to capture the moment, just as we hurry to be entertained, to enjoy the kids, to do so many things...because there is no time.

What Happens to Those Beautiful Images - The Memories We Cherish So Much?

More often than not, those pictures remain in the virtual world… buried and crammed together in virtual memory space. Never to be seen or remembered again. Often we forget to look again…to see those moments so precious…the ones we were wanting to recollect.

With photographs, we framed them and showcased them all over our living spaces. We walked into a room and smiled at the memories the images brought. But where are they now? Those images no longer don our coffee tables, bookshelves and walls; they all seem to be in the old 'hard drive,' that mess of jumbled files, pictures and outdated software.

Some people create beautiful memory albums. But not all of us have the time to do that. We often can’t even get down to the pharmacy to get those pictures printed out.

There isn’t a mom or dad out there who doesn’t want to see their kids’ photos. Every school video presentation shows parents with teary eyed memories. You want to preserve those pictures. You don’t want them lost on an old computer or hard drive that can’t be accessed any longer. Unfortunately, for many of us that is exactly what happens to those old pictures. They get lost on those old computers or on disk we can never find.

The solution lies in Web Photo Albums. These are photo albums like those you buy in the store, but they are stored on the Internet You can access a web album from any computer or any location at any time. So 30 years from now, when you are in your 60s you can still project that cool web album you made in your 20s onto your television or in some cases even have it as your screen saver.

So web photo albums don’t sound very imaginative, crafty or artistic. But that’s because you’ve never really seen one. These albums allow your artistic soul to shine, you can get as creative as you want with tons of background colors to choose from, and now some even allow you to make collages or add frames.

Making an online album is just as creative as making a scrap book, maybe even more so because you can add in high tech features, colors, and designs that are impossible in a traditional scrap book.

This is an age of innovation and change. Our kids live in a virtual reality. They are known as digital natives. So it just seems logical to convert the more conventional photo album into an amazing virtual memory book, one that can be projected to any screen, computer, tablet or phone and shared across many social channels with those you love. These are memories you can share at a moment’s notice or display through innovative digital frames. Don’t let those memories get away. Share them with people in your present and future. They will never come again.

Share Your Travel Photos

When it comes to traveling, you probably have all sorts of friends and family members who want to see your travel photos. After all, you might be heading off to distant land they have only see on television or in books. That is why you need to find a great way to share your travel photographs. Long gone are the days where you force the family down in front of a slide projector for hours at a time, as we now have digital and instant connections.

Some of the more common image sharing options, just don't give the best option for sharing images, as the quality is reduced and it doesn't always provide you with the connection method you need, especially for those people who don't have social media accounts. That is exactly why you need to take advantage of the latest in photo albums and facebook apps.

The Web photo albums work much like a traditional photo album. Individuals can select the particular photo albums from the website that they want to view, and then they can choose to scroll through the images one at a time, or view the pictures in a collage setting. You can have every single picture saved to the website at once from your album and for some of the latest albums you can even pull in your social media accounts as well and any photos you shared while on vacation. There is no need to tag people or places, which just takes far too long with other social media accounts.

When sharing your travel photos, you want to make sure everyone is able to see these pictures. However, most social media websites require individuals to follow you and be friends with you to see the content. Instead, to share the images with everyone, even those without social media, you want to use a photo album service. Photo albums are easy to use and make it possible to share your pictures with the world. On top of it all, you don't want to lose the quality of your images either, which is a major advantage with using a online digital photo albums.

The Benefits of Online Photo Galleries

Have you ever considered using online photo galleries? Some people are reluctant to use them because of privacy concerns. However, the risks are usually minimal if you do not label the photos with your name and most galleries have privacy settings to control who sees your photos. Further, the benefits of using these online photo galleries can outweigh the privacy concerns.

One major benefit of using online photo galleries is the ability to share your photos with friends and family easily. Sharing paper photos costs both time and money. You have to get them printed, you have to buy envelopes and stamps, and then you have to mail them out to anyone you want to share them with. With online galleries, you can share them without any hassle. In fact, many of these galleries are free to use. You can upload them to the gallery and save both the time and money it takes to send them through the postal service.

The other major benefit of these photo galleries is you can back up your photos off-site. This means that you will always have a copy of your photos stored at a location separate from your house or computer. That way, if your computer happens to crash or your basement or store room floods, you have not lost all of the photos of your precious memories. All you have to do is find them online and print them out again.

Since most online photo galleries have privacy settings and are password-protected, you can control who gets to see your photos. Further, most of these sites lets you label or "tag" the photos with whatever words you wish. Therefore, if you do not wish for a photo with your or your kids' names all over the internet, all you have to do is change the privacy settings on your account and label the photos with a different tag. So, the next time you want to share your photos with friends and family, consider sharing them on a photo gallery website or app.

Clean Up Your Mess

Time for a little rant. I was out with a friend yesterday and they wanted to show me a picture from last weekend. She took out her phone and open her photo album. For the next 10 minutes she scrolled through a whole lot of pictures I couldn't care less about. By the time she got to the picture she wanted me to see I forgot why. She then realized the thing she wanted to show me was cut off and blurry.

This isn't the first time and not the only person I have sat with waiting for the magic reveal. Now that taking picture is so easy, everyone has a ridiculous number of pics. There is no end to the number of images everyone has squirrelled away on their phone or in a web photo album. We keep every single picture we ever take even when the picture shows nothing. Why so many accidental pictures of the floor or the inside of your purse?

First, purge people! Just because you can take bunches of picture doesn't mean you need to keep them. Snap away, it's half the fun. When you are done with the fun, do some clean up. You don't need 37 shots of your dog and its chew toy. One is good. Pick the best one and get ride of the rest.

Second, organize! Put the pic into photo galleries. Figure out the things you want to take pictures of and keep. Then do a little organization. Put the worth keeping ones into the right place so you can find quickly. Then you won't be swiping away at your phone while I stop being interested. Done rant.

Sharing is Caring

Sharing pictures is better than taking them sometimes. This is where a website photo album works best. When grandparents don't live close it lets them see little one grow into bigger ones. You just can't resist the need to share the perfect outfit with your friend. If a picture is worth a thousand words then sharing a picture is better than chatting for hours on the phone.

A few quick snaps with the smartphone while on vacation. Upload to your photo galleries and you are sharing with friends and family. The days of flipping through a photo album weeks after a vacation are gone. No need to print off extra copies to send in the mail. No special envelop to keep every thing free of wrinkles.

Your phone will only hold so many photos and then you need to make decision on which photos to delete. Synching your pics online takes that headache away. You don't need to decide between a baby picture and the perfect pair of shoes shot.

Sort your photos into albums and keep everything organized. No more flipping through hundreds of pics in one big folder on your phone or computer. Find exactly what you want and without quickly sliding past something embarrassing.

Want to get an opinion on your party outfit while out for coffee. Pull out your phone, call up the right folder and flip through the right photos online. Your friend doesn't want to see all of the baby pictures again. Share the baby pictures with the grandparents who don't really care about your shoe habit.

Housekeeping Online

More house work isn't something many of us take on willingly. Or quietly. Especially when it isn't even making our actual house liveable. Having a house with things kept wherever they happen to be dropped makes it impossible to find anything. The kid's bedroom is not a good place to keep power tools. Storing fresh vegetables in the bathroom doesn't make much sense either. Our online life needs housekeeping too and it make our online world liveable. It is easy to keep our online stuff scattered everywhere or just in one big heap.

Pictures use to be something physical that we put in albums to preserve because they were fragile and expensive. Now that they are a quick snap away on our phones we have hundreds or thousands of photos every year. This is now a big jumbled mess of images with pictures from vacation next to hundreds of pet pictures trying to get a good shot of the dog park.  Getting them organized is necessary just to find anything without flipping through everything.

This is where putting some thought before you start can make you photo galleries useful. It is tempting to just let the pictures flow together and be grouped by the date they were taken because it is somewhat automatic. That's fine if you remember exactly when that day at the park happened last summer or was it the summer before.

Unless you are a genius at remembering dates a better way is needed to get everything in order. I like to start with a small number of broad categories that are important to me. Things like kids, pets, friends, vacations, inspirations or hobbies are good places to start. It is best if these categories will break your pics into each web photo album that end up close in size. If you find that one album is way bigger than the others, break it up into a few more categories.

You can repeat this again for each of the broad labels as well. You don't want to get carried away and have only one picture at the end of each sub-label. I find something even up to ten categories wide at the top but no more than three level deep is good. So something like Inspiration -> Home -> Kitchen is deep enough. Using dates on the lowest level makes sense then like Vacation -> Beach -> August 2010. That keeps the website photo album for pets from August 2010 separate from that fabulous night out with the girls from August 2010.

The other important part of housekeeping for your online photos is to delete. We all like to take a bunch of pictures of our favourite things. Not all of those quick snaps are good pictures. They might be blurred or cutting off half of someone's head. We just take another picture, but at the time, sending the bad one to the trash may not happen. There is no reason to keep those photos. While you are organizing things is a good time to be brutal and trim the collection.

Go Visual with facebook

Want to make an impact online? Start using images. People are awash in words online. Status updates, blog posts, notifications from various apps or services. It gets so you just stop reading. Even short and sweet quotes aren't make it through the natural filters that we developed. The important things look just like all of the junk. It is nearly impossible to get people to notice even if they are close friends.

They aren't doing it intentionally. So making a little effort to help them out is worth it. People are strongly attracted to visual presentations. Just watch most toddlers when the TV is turned. They can't help themselves. They stare at the screen and drool.

The same thing can be said when you walk through the television section at a store on the weekend. Except it isn't just toddlers with the drool staring at the big screens, they are a little older but the point is the same. That is why those bus shelter and bench ads actually get noticed. Even better if the background picture catches your attention.

You have something important to say? They take advantage of our unavoidable draw to images. Once you have the images, sharing can be easy with a website photo album. By loading your pictures up to a catalogue online you don't worry about things like hosting and access. That will be taken care for you. You can link to your pictures from many places instead of uploading the same image every time.

It also a way to organize all your images together. Typically people become messy with their computer files. A cluttered desktop or just one big folder full of every picture ever taken is a nightmare for finding what you want. Setting things up online is a good way to get organized. As you upload images you can take the time to put them in the right place to make life easier when it is time to find them again. You can also make sure you are only uploading the important things instead of every accidental pocket snap.

Don't let the term web photo album put you off either. As far as the internet is concerned, a picture of your kids and a image with text are the same thing. They are both stored as the same image file type and can be share in all the same ways. If you are interested in sharing snapshots of your kitten being cute the internet will love you with or without captions.

There may be more important things than kitten pictures and things you want people to notice. Creating a photo album for your important ideas is not something that requires a deep technical background. Pretty much if you can take a picture with you phone and email, you will be able to create an online sanctuary for your images. Matching the right image to the right message will tap your creative flare and will take some time to get right. Once you have those lined up, the share part will be easy.
